What is the goal of EVMgastracker?

What is gwei?
Gwei is one billionth (10⁻⁹) of a chain's native gas token. On Ethereum, 1 gwei = 0.000000001 ETH; on other EVM chains it refers to their own token (BNB, MON, POL…). That's why this dashboard compares costs in USD, not in gwei.
Why are gas fees high sometimes?
Fees rise when demand for block space exceeds supply: NFT mints, airdrop claims, memecoin trading or network congestion. The “Why?” button on each card shows which contracts are burning the most gas right now.
What is an RPC, and why switch when a chain is congested?
An RPC endpoint is the server your wallet uses to talk to a blockchain — send transactions, read balances, estimate gas. When a chain is congested, public RPCs often get overloaded too: transactions hang, fail or get bad gas estimates. The “RPC” button (chainlist.org) lets you switch to a healthier endpoint in seconds and can save a failed transaction.
Which blockchain has the cheapest fees?
It changes constantly. Most L2s (Base, OP Mainnet, Scroll…) and recent L1s cost well under a cent per swap, while Ethereum mainnet is usually the most expensive. This dashboard compares 56 chains in real time, in USD.
When is the best time to transact?
Gas is often cheaper at night and on weekends, but every chain has its own pattern. The “Best time” button shows a 7-day × 24-hour heatmap of gas prices in your local timezone.
